Synopsis

MusicArtes Inc. proudly invites you to an extraordinary evening of music and drama with its Opera Intima twin bill, featuring Francis Poulenc’s La Voix Humaine and its Filipino counterpart, Boses. This highly anticipated production, under the masterful direction of internationally acclaimed Sir Anton Juan, and with the musical direction of tenor extraordinaire Arthur Espiritu, accompanied by the virtuoso Rudolph Golez on piano, promises an unforgettable night of emotional and artistic depth.

La Voix Humaine is a compelling opera intima by Francis Poulenc, exploring the emotional complexity of a woman's final telephone conversation with her lover who has left her for another. In this poignant monologue, she navigates through lies, manipulation, guilt, and gaslighting, all while grappling with the overwhelming undercurrent of love and loss. The hauntingly beautiful score, paired with Balajadia's powerful performance and Golez's exceptional piano accompaniment, brings unparalleled depth and intensity to this celebrated masterpiece. The audience will witness a journey of vulnerability and strength, as the protagonist confronts the paradox of losing oneself or seeking justice.

Boses, a dramatic monologue in Filipino, serves as a contemporary counterpart to La Voix Humaine. Performed by the dazzling Brigiding, one of the most prominent artists redefining contemporary performance art, Boses brings new dimensions to the narrative of emotional confrontation and self-discovery. Brigiding's raw artistry and powerful stage presence breathe life into this modern Filipino work, creating a vivid and resonant exploration of voice, identity, and resilience.

Join us for this powerful double-bill that masterfully intertwines classic and contemporary storytelling, offering a profound exploration of human emotions and the complexities of love and identity. Each performance promises to captivate and move audiences, leaving an indelible mark on the heart and soul.
