Synopsis
Hailed as "destined to be one of the legendary pianists of the 21st century," Jonathan Biss is celebrated worldwide for his profound musical insight, technical brilliance, and expressive artistry. Biss has performed with some of the world’s most prestigious orchestras, including the New York Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw, and Gewandhausorchester Leipzig. A sought-after educator and Co-Artistic Director of the Marlboro Music Festival alongside Mitsuko Uchida, Biss is equally celebrated for his work as a critically acclaimed author and thoughtful advocate for classical music.

Described by The New York Times as a pianist who “always displays impeccable taste and a formidable technique,” and praised by The Chicago Tribune as “thoughtful and probing…one of today’s foremost Beethoven exponents,” Biss’s artistry leaves a lasting impression on audiences worldwide. Gramophone Magazine lauded his Beethoven Sonatas recording as showcasing “a highly refined and intelligent musician” who captures Beethoven’s spirit with unmatched depth and understanding.

In this special concert, Biss brings his signature insight to Schubert’s Impromptus D. 935 Nos. 1 & 3 and the Piano Sonata in A Major D. 959, alongside the Philippine premiere of Alvin Singleton’s Bed-Stuy Sonata.
