Puccini’s Tosca Brings Passion, Betrayal, and Sacrifice to Manila’s Stage

The timeless tragedy of love, power, and sacrifice comes alive as Tosca, Giacomo Puccini’s celebrated opera, graces the stage in a must-see production directed by the acclaimed Laurice Guillen. This highly anticipated event will feature the talents of the UST Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro William Barkhymer, with choral performances by the UP Concert Chorus and the UP Voice and Music Theatre Guild. Brought to audiences by the Lyric Opera of the Philippines, Tosca will be staged at the prestigious St. Cecilia’s Auditorium, St. Scholastica’s College, Manila.

Opera enthusiasts will be treated to stellar performances from an esteemed cast, featuring soprano Ana Feleo in the titular role of Floria Tosca, tenor Sherwin Sozon as the passionate painter Mario Cavaradossi, and baritone Isaac Droscha as the menacing Baron Scarpia. Set in 19th-century Rome against the backdrop of political turmoil, the opera follows the tragic fate of opera singer Floria Tosca, her lover Mario Cavaradossi, and the ruthless police chief Baron Scarpia.
