
Pianist Ming Xie to Perform at Manila Pianos Showroom in February

Makati City, Philippines – Renowned pianist Ming Xie will perform a solo recital at the Manila Pianos Showroom on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 7:00 PM.
Described by the legendary Martha Argerich as “phenomenal,” Ming Xie is known for his charismatic stage presence and communicative performances.
He made his debut with Valery Gergiev and the Mariinsky Orchestra at the II Far East Music Festival in Vladivostok, a performance that led to his subsequent invitation to the XII Mariinsky International Piano Festival. His 2024-2025 season includes two recital programs, chamber music collaborations, and concerto engagements in China, Panama, Colombia, Thailand, and the Philippines.
Xie's notable achievements include being the Artist-in-Residence with the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra from 2021 to 2023, where he toured with the complete Rachmaninov works for piano and orchestra under Darrell Ang. He has also premiered the Corigliano Piano Concerto at the Second Hangzhou International Contemporary Music Festival, debuted at Wigmore Hall, and embarked on a critically acclaimed Oceania recital tour.
Throughout his career, Ming Xie has worked with esteemed conductors such as Valery Gergiev, Jorge Ledezma-Bardley, and François López-Ferrer, performing with major orchestras like the Mariinsky Orchestra, Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra, and Shanghai Symphony Orchestra. His competition accolades include the Gold Medal at the 2016 Panama International Piano Competition, the Gawon Award, and multiple prizes at the 2016 Sydney International Piano Competition.
A graduate of The Juilliard School, where he studied under Sergei Babayan, Emanuel Ax, and Matti Raekallio, Ming Xie is also a passionate educator. He has given masterclasses and lectures at institutions like the Conservatoire in Lille and New York University Shanghai, with his students gaining admission to prestigious schools such as Juilliard and the Eastman School of Music.

His upcoming recital in Manila will feature works by composers such as Scriabin, Debussy, Albeniz, and Rachmaninoff, promising an evening of exceptional artistry. He will also be hosting a masterclass at the MSO Rehearsal Hall, Ayala Circuit on February 16, 2025.
