Dr. Ning Hui See, a pianist and musicologist from Singapore, is set to perform a solo piano recital titled RESOUNDING on March 8, 2025, at the Manila Pianos Showroom, Makati City.
Known for her thoughtful concert programming and interpretations of underrepresented composers, Ning Hui has received acclaim for her "refined touch, voluminous sound, and all-rounded musical personality," as noted by The Straits Times.
She has performed extensively across prestigious venues in the UK, including Steinway Hall, St James’s Piccadilly, and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, as well as internationally in France, Belgium, Italy, Sweden, and the United States. Notable performance locations also include the Harris Hall at Aspen, Colorado, and as a soloist with the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto, the Lydian Orchestra, and the Danube Symphony Orchestra. Her performances have been broadcast on BBC Four, BBC Radio 3, and Singapore Symphony 92.4FM.
In addition to her performance career, Ning Hui is currently a C H Scholar at the Royal College of Music London, where she is completing her PhD. Her thesis, "How Pianists Programme Lesser-known Solo Repertoire: An Autoethnography through Clara Schumann’s Sonata and Interviews with Four Pianists," examines the issues of canon, musical value, and performer identity. She has presented her research at major international conferences, including those at the Royal Musical Association and the Institute of Austrian and German Music Research.
Dr. Ning Hui See is also an Adjunct Lecturer at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore, teaching piano, chamber music, and academics. Earlier in her career, she received accolades from major international competitions, including being a finalist in the 2014 BBC Young Musician competition and a laureate of the ‘Citta di Padova’ and Cesar Franck International Piano Competitions.
Her upcoming RESOUNDING recital promises to be an exceptional showcase of her talent, featuring a program of works by composers such as Clara Schumann, Fanny Mendelssohn, Mel Bonis, Amy Beach, Kaija Saariaho, Emily Koh, and Florence Price.
This event is proudly presented by the Manila Pianos Artist Series in collaboration with Cultural Arts Events Organizer.
